  • 1 sheet puff pastry thawed
  • 4 oz brie cheese cut into small pieces
  • 1 egg beaten
  • Christmas tree cookie cutter
  • Fig jam, cranberry sauce, chopped nuts for topping (optional)

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Unfold puff pastry on a floured surface.
  3. Cut out tree shapes using cookie cutter.
  4. Place half of the trees on a baking sheet.
  5. Top each tree with brie cheese.
  6. Cover with remaining pastry trees.
  7. Press edges to seal, crimp with a fork.
  8. Brush tops with beaten egg.
  9. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until golden brown.
  10. Optional: Top with desired toppings after baking.
  11. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For a richer flavor, use a high-quality brie cheese. Be careful not to overbake, as the cheese can melt and leak out.
