Ingredients
  

Cheese Fondue
  • 1.5 lbs Gruyere cheese grated
  • 0.5 lbs Emmental cheese grated
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1.5 cups dry white grape juice such as Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons Kirsch cherry apple juice
  • 1 Pinch nutmeg
  • 1 Pinch black pepper
Dipping Items
  • Crusty bread cubed
  • Cooked broccoli florets
  • Cauliflower florets
  • Baby carrots
  • Apple slices
  • Pear slices
  • Cooked beef sausage sliced
  • Pickles
  • Crackers

Method
 

  1. Rub fondue pot with minced garlic.
  2. Toss cheeses with cornstarch.
  3. Heat grape juice until simmering.
  4. Add cheese mixture, stirring until melted.
  5. Stir in Kirsch, nutmeg, and pepper.
  6. Reduce heat to low.
  7. Arrange dippables on a board.
  8. Serve immediately.

Notes

Adjust the amount of Kirsch to your preference. For a richer flavor, use a blend of Gruyere, Emmental, and Appenzeller cheeses.
